He has been described a leading scholar on international dispute settlement and human rights based on his numerous research articles and publications.

Rytis Satkauskas has served as the head of the Treaties Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and practices in various fields of public international law, such as treaty law and responsibility of states, diplomatic immunity, law of the sea, humanitarian law, settlement of disputes, international investment law, human rights and protection of biodiversity.
